Visit Spitalfields : Arts & Crafts: "Old Spitalfields Market used to be the staging post for new and young artists. At one time the basement in Old Spitalfields Market housed over a 150 artists both working and exhibiting.
There have been some high profile exhibits including the Bodyworks which attracted more than a million visitors to the area."
